These things are traditions. They're meant to preserve innocence and carry on family memories for the rest of their lives. It gives them hope and imagination.

These things were good enough for generations, but suddenly we should toss that away?

I get what you’re saying but Isn’t it the ground layer for being lied to and brainwashed for when they get older.

Would people have more critical thinking skills if they realize early on those stories are in fact lies?
