This is why I try to knock people out of the echo chamber on the conservative side.
We will post things like "people are waking up", but the fact is there are many who are just as asleep as they were before.
Wait until you actually discuss current events with them. There is a leftist narrative that counters our talking points we discuss here. Continually confronting this will expose the think mirror on the conservative side.
That's the hard pill for people to swallow. You will find the same mental gymnastics for talking points on both sides. When you hear it from them, and then unconsciously repeat it over here, something happens. It makes you pump the brakes and think about your beliefs more.
Romney’s a turd, but he was unfairly attacked in 2012. He said that 47% of the voters are receiving government benefits so they’ll always vote for benefits and we can’t worry about them. His accusers tried to say he meant we can’t worry about taking care of those people, when everyone knows he meant we can’t worry about trying to get votes from those people. On the other side, Obama was talking about public roads to access a private business, and an educated workforce to choose its employees. He said if you’re a business owner, you didn’t create that. His detractors tried to say that Obama meant that a business owner didn’t create his own business, but everyone knows that Obama meant that the business owner didn’t create the surrounding infrastructure and community.
Yeah, the intentional misconstruing and narrative engineering can happen on both sides of the mainstream political divide. It’s better to be a radically honest patriot.

Always.
