The first time I read Atlas Shrugged, the biggest takeaway for me was not the philosophy or the political aspect (though I got that part right away), it was the way she exposed the emotional abuse that people can put others through - using their own good nature against them by making them feel guilty. It resonated so strongly with me. You can see it playing out all the time -"Feel bad about climate change" while the companies that they and their friends own pollute vast areas of Asia and the Pacific. "Feel bad about blacks in the inner city" while again, they and their friends are the ones directly profiting off of other peoples' misery.

An endless drone of "You're a bad person! It's your fault! Feel bad! Feel guilty!" from the people who keep turning a profit. Time to pull back the veil, let everyone have a look around and let people make up their own minds, free of guilt and fear.

PS...not a guy, but I appreciate the sentiment that there are others out there who have stopped buying what's being sold.
