Could anyone kindly explain (like I am 5!) what 'open source' actually means, especially what (if any) affect it has on users.

It also means people can make modifications on the platform itself and contribute them to be merged with the official thing.

It also also means one can reduce the workforce CONSIDERABLY, since bug squashing and feature development becomes crowdsourced.

Yep, this is basically why open-source blockchain is the future of government and finance.

We will finally get a cheat proof and fair systems with no bugs or with bugs that get eliminated asap.

At least they could hold votes with smart contracts and nfts and we could actually get the candidate we vote for in office.
