Actually much bigger than either of those but we are reduced to focusing on the over simplified questions as a distraction from looking at the bigger more complex picture.
Who is controlling the whole thing? The guilt, shaming, narratives....... Who benefits from us never knowing or even seeking truth about whether anything we are told about history is true? We can argue about the species of gnats, or about what is drawing the flies, or we can search for why what is drawing them is there in the first place and who put it there.

I actually believe those are two huge questions.
