I am just a dude. I converted to Catholicism less than two years ago. Every day I convert more and more to Christ. Every day God reveals to me my own sin, deeper and deeper, and I rejoice that He grants me the knowledge that I may confess my sin and be made more pure in my heart through His grace. In this way, as the Apostle Paul puts it, “in my weakness I am made strong through Christ.”
The current pope appears to my eyes to be a heretic, and possibly not even the true pope. I do not put my faith in him though - as you correctly point out, he is a man. As a church needs a pastor, so the Church needs a head. The papacy is the office, occupied by a man, essentially a steward of the throne, keeping the seat warm for the return of Christ (which may well be imminent).
May the peace of the Holy Spirit, which surpasses all understanding, illuminate your mind and spirit always.
The reason there are so many churches is because every new denomination forms as a result of a theological squabble with the denomination it came out of. The reason I mention Luther is because the entirety of your theology exists as a result of Luther, who removed books from the very Bible that you anoint yourself as an expert of. Turn from your foolishness and eat of His Body and drink of His Blood!
You have accepted heresy, and now teach it. May God forgive you - you know not what you do.
Peter appointed the next pope. St John appointed his successor (Ignatius of Antioch).
That’s so obviously false. The Bible is the Word of God, written by men inspired by God. You interpret every passage through the lens of discounting the Church, while I interpret it through the lens of those who wrote it and what they taught along with it.
You are familiar with only two sides of the argument:
the argument against the church
the argument against the rebuttal to the argument against the church
The two sides you need to study before you give another sermon :
The argument FOR the church (given by the Catholic Church itself, written by those the Apostles themselves laud hands on and ordained as their successors and protectors of the Sacred Traditions)
The argument against the rebuttal to the church
Read up! Your understanding has a 1600 year gap. All of your resources are contemporary. Why wouldn’t you want to know what the people who actually walked with the Apostles have to say? You read Strong’s like it’s not “men telling you what to think,” and discount what the direct successors of the Apostles wrote as if it’s “just men telling you what to think.” It’s silly. Cut it out 😂
I just read the rest of your post.
