The Nordeste is basically Africa. It's a complete shithole. Run down, rife with crime, and has a divide between rich and poor that is probably the widest divide one will see in the Americas, and nearly the worst in the world.

Has some beautiful beaches, some fun music, and some good food. Everything else is a shambolic disaster.
