NO forgiveness before justice. NO! These horrible people don't get to dictate how they are to be treated after winding down their big crime against humanity, and they don't get to tell the ones whose lives they ruined how to feel. That is like walking through piles of bodies in a WW2 Holocaust camp and saying, "It will be better for everybody if we can all be friends now and just forget about this."
DO NOT LET THEM trick you into feeling unloving or mean for demanding they be punished for their participation in a monstrous crime. If anyone in history ever deserved to be punished, it is the people who did this and those who helped them make it happen (including media people who encouraged it, perhaps especially them). Their feelings about it do not matter, their assessments of you don't matter anymore than they did when they were calling you names.
THEY DON'T GET TO WALK AWAY. Not this time. Not from this. What they did was too big and too heinous to ignore, and those who went along with it to turn on people in their own families are not innocent. They didn't make a "mistake." They chose to be cruel and to support tyranny. THEY CHOSE TO DO THAT, siding with the government and with "experts" they didn't even know against their own loved ones. We can forgive those family members and friends who finally see the light to become truly sorry about what they did, but the ones who led them to do it are another matter.
This is not something we can be nice to forgive and forget. If there is no reckoning and no penalty paid, the same people will just do it again. There can be no moving on until there is a massive demonstration of justice that satisfies the souls of those who were wronged by the people who wanted to take over the world, provides meaningful restitution to them for their pains, and prevents the perpetrators from recommitting their crimes. After that, maybe we'll talk about moving on, but not before.
