A few weeks ago I had a worrying conversation with a farmer I know. He told me that this year, 2022, the grain harvest was quite good. He was able to produce 1000,000 kg of grain. Finland has been barely self-sufficient.

The problem is what we will have on the table in a year's time. My farmer friend told me that due to EU subsidy policy, fuel prices and the availability/price of fertiliser, he estimates that next year he will only be able to produce 300,000 kg of grain, a mere 30% of this year's harvest.
