Trump comes out with this "DeSanctimonious" thing right before the election to possibly raise doubts that he trusts DeSantis which, in turn, makes the DS take notice and maybe lay off any weird attempt to get Crist in there. End of the day, DS would prefer any anti-Trump personnel in charge, and if they get DeSantis he comes with a pre-installed hardcore following. They'd have to start from scratch with Crist.

THEREFORE, I think the rift was planned as a way to appear fractured when in reality it was possibly just an attempt to see any other weak points in the DS plan.

Also now Florida can be held up as an example of how clean elections are run and how that turns out.
