No, I'm not saying I was a "operator", but back in the day, all infantry did counter insurgency training as part of their usual, even if the numpties of today tried so hard to make it seem like we'd never ever faced anything like insurgency before.
And during the three year break from the infantry, as an intel anal-yst, there was a lot of instruction on how such things work at a deeper level.
The man you see and know exists isn't the string puller. It's just a muppet. and between the muppet and the string puller are layers of "cutouts" that can be made to look as if they're the string puller but are really just blowout valves to prevent tracing the path back to the actual.
