It's speculated that this could be the root symbolism behind Q (17th letter) = secret. Have you ever heard that phrase before?
Yes, I remember some advertising about some brand of watch that always said it had 17 jewels. In the old watches you had to wind, they commonly used ruby and sapphire as the bearings in the watch. I guess some had 17 of them, thus 17 jewels.
