And I’m not being a smart ass here, or trying to prove anything, I’m genuinely curious as to why there hasn’t been even a small protest In our streets. Americans are not unfamiliar with protesting, although certainly not as keen on it as the Europeans.
A friend who lives in Greece asked me this and I came up with several answers, but they seemed a little lame.

Because we have a huge media problem in this country and people believe it.
There could be protests too just obviously not televised. They create the 'supply and demand' of what's happening.
I mean look at the lgbtqia issue. According to pew less than 1% of Americans identify as trans and around 3% gay. Though in that same pew research article the average American thought 25% of the population was gay. Why? We have been so bombarded with lgbtqia bs that it made it seem that the issue was extraordinarily large with a large gay population, when In actuality, it is an extremely small community.
