Imagine her coming to the US as an ambassador from another country. First, a foreign actor for that country; secondly, why would we let that snake into the US? How weird can this story get?

Well, if she is afraid of being arrested and tribunal'ed then somewhere outside the country is probably a good place to hide. Note that George HW Bush also went and hid in China for a while as "ambassador" after his fuckery with the Watergate setup of Nixon (most likely in case the CIA role in the whole thing got uncovered).
