Even ignoring deadlines based on economic implosion, dark spiritual beliefs, imminent global catastrophe, etc, the cabal still cannot afford to ease their grip. Despite their thousands of years spent retarding our development, there is now a critical mass of progress in multiple fields technological, spiritual, and social where it would only take a few years for humanity to advance forever beyond their control. That is why they're now abandoning all subtlety and overtly going for mass destruction and genocidal totalitarianism. Things are too far gone now. If they let us advance any further at even our current snail's pace (much less at our natural God-given rate), they will never, ever again regain their ill-gotten position as the masters of mankind.
