Trouble is the market has been saying it doesn't for the last few years, yet it's still promoted to the hilt and overstocked in stores. And someone is willingly taking on those losses for the stores.

Any bets on when they'll try to market "human" "meat"? I can see marketing ploy around Halloween or something...a limited time offer/"gimmick" and see how many sheep flock to try it willingly.
Never trust any food that involves a production process that the common man couldn't somehow do on his own. You can grow your own vegetables and raise your own livestock. It would be pretty darn neat to grow beef in a jar from steer blood and lawn clippings. But until the process is that transparent, safe, and independantly replicable, the only vat-grown meat I'll eat is that which naturally swims in a fishtank.
There'll be quiet protests against this product. Let the market say they want this or not.... like Beyond Meats
