I lost my Canadian permanent residence in 2013 after being out of the country for too long. I regretted it at the time, but have been counting my lucky stars every day since the first U.S. lockdowns -- we've never had it as tough as others around the world have has it.
Anyone who puts you down for making a tough call under such extreme threats to you and your family has no idea how bad the coercion was, and has never really thought through how they would handle it differently.
Thank you. It was not like I could just pack up and move to another state like in the USA. Here in this shithole country they locked down the provincial borders, you could not take a boat or a plane. And I couldnt escape to the states without two shots, I tried, I am in a profession where I would have no problem with the H1B.
So I was here and the provincial government said no one in many jobs can work without the shots. Here is a sample.... gov jobs, contractors doing any work with gov (including ALL their staff even if they never go near the gov contracts), utilities, restaurant workers (yes even McDonalds kids). If say walmart had a contract to supply pens to the gov even the stock boy had to take the shots). They were even going to make it a condition of being on welfare. Unemployment was not available to the unvaxed. etc etc
I held out I didnt want it, I was ready to tip shit over. I attended the local freedom rallys, I donated to the trucker gofundme, I donated to the give send go when they seized the gofundme. I wear a Trump MAGA hat.
When I was laid off due to no vax, I could not see my family lose the home and be homeless. I went to get the shots that I knew could be a death sentence. I got bells palsy that luckly resolved after a few days. I still have a constant earache and a bit of ringing when its quiet. I have been having some twitching in legs and eyes.
What really gets me is people saying "you had a choice" NO I DID NOT.
I am near retirement, and had enough savings (at least before bidenflation), so I didn't have to face the terror of living without an income. And only because we have a Constitution that enshrines the common law did I have an avenue open in fighting the vaxx mandate. I never lost sight of how blessed I was as an American. I have been gifted with freedom worth fighting for.
