Politics is not good government but it seems to be what's accepted as such any more. Parties are political tribalism, as you said.....NOT the way to run a Republic whose specific framework is entirely ignored by these ignorant folks. Politics and parties bring agendas and what people THINK is a good thing. Here's something I learned recently: betcha never heard of the Bonus Bill 😉. Was vetoed in 1817 by Madison because, according to Madison, using the Commerce Clause, General Welfare Clause, and Necessary and Proper Clause as justification for the law “would be contrary to the established and consistent rules of interpretation, as rendering the special and careful enumeration of powers which follow the clause nugatory and improper,” adding that an alternative view “would have the effect of giving to Congress a general power of legislation instead of the defined and limited one hitherto understood to belong to them.” This bill was vetoed two more times. This bill was seen as a great thing to do but it was pointed out that passing it would have unintended consequences.
