You DON'T use water to put out electrical fires FFS! There are multiple types of fire extinguishers for different types of fires.
I judge people who wear masks, people who drive EV's, people that have a rainbow anything, people with coexist stickers on their cars....feel free to add to the list.
Biden/Harris bumper stickers, especially on BMWs.
I support Planned Parenthood Bumper Stickers...
There's nothing wrong with electric cars. There something very wrong with electric car batteries. They have a lot of lithium to sell us, before the allow better battery tech on the market.
Why not just use sand for these kind of fires?
That is a good question. Probably they have more access to water.
So how much carbon did that little fire put into the atmosphere?
Since you asked: https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/electric-cars-co2-emissions-global-warming/
That's good info related to the recharging and footprint of electric cars, but I was pondering specifically the carbons put into the atmosphere as a direct result from that fire. Surely any imagined carbon footprint gains the owner thought he was saving was way more offset by the carbon and toxins put into the air by that fire. We may never know that amount as a quantifiable measure, but it would be great to know.
Eventually every jurisdiction is going to need to either purchase a new specialized firetruck or retrofit current equipment with a chemical foam fire suppression systems capable of dealing with lithium fires. They would be better off just letting it burn out by itself than fueling a lithium fire with water.
Well, at least that will help dispose of the batteries... ~{°¡°}~
