The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. There is none righteous, no not one. The thoughts and intents of their hearts was only evil continually. But you were dead in your trespasses and sin. This is God's assessment of mankind. (He has more to say, but scripture is very clear, that mankind, post fall, is dead in sin, inherently evil, and even our "good works" are filthy rags). Yes, some people are raised to be moral, yet are not morally good. Some do "good" to earn salvation or earn status, but the heart is still evil. There is a way that seems right to man, but that way leads to death (eternal death and separation from God)
