Most of these de-codes are just mental exercise, but its making people a lot more observant. Think of all the years that we were fooled with MSM fake stuff that wasn't real.
The naked girl in Vietnam burned supposedly by napalm, then a few years back they interview a lady that's supposed to be that kid? Didn't look napalm burned in ether, which was real> Nether is my guess.
Perhaps a silent method of communication or thieves' cant, like Silk uses in the Belgariad novels?
Couple of years ago at the night job, we had to utilized a specialized translator (called a Certified interpretter for deaf individuals, or CDI) to communicate with this particular deaf asset from an east-Asian nation. Her family had taught her a tribal/family sign language, and she's spent most of her life in a rural area with little formal education. None of us even knew this was a thing until it came up.
So yeah, obscure and secret signing languages do exist.

Of course they do, for Pete's sake. But ASL, which is what the OP was asking about, is not obscure and secret. An anon asked about a specific type of sign and I shared what I know because I'm fluent. Take it or leave it. No sense in going a completely different direction after the fact.
Erm... I wasn't questioning your experience or knowledge.
On the contrary, I'm wondering if those WITH more language experience than myself thought it could be something different. I'd ask the CDI if they were around. It's a skill that's not even on my radar really.
My apologies if my post seemed otherwise. Didn't mean to appear contentious.
Sure man, it's whatever your mind wants it to be. But it isn't sign language. Cheers.
