It's an assumption. We provably KNOW very little. That said, I agree with the assumption.

I also agree with the OPs sentiments of compassion. However, as you said "she's a grown ass woman now." At that point in life, one is judged on what they do, not what they had done to them.

This is why the most fundamentally important thing is to protect children. Give them the opportunity to not have to overcome, but to flourish.
