That highlights the whole problem I have with "renewable" energy. The proponents never back up their plan with numbers - specifically numbers concerning possible issues or problems.
When you point out that wind power, say, is intermittent they say: batteries. However, they never tell you how many batteries; how much space they will take up; how much mining will be required etc. According to Bjorn Lomborg, the world currently has enough batteries to run the world for 1.5 minutes. We are going to need a lot more before we have a working system.
We also need to know how much land will be swallowed up by wind turbines of solar plants. How much of our manufacturing capability will be consumed by replacing "renewable" installations as they wear out?
I once did a back of the envelope calculation on the size of the windfarm required to power the US and it turned out to be eight times the size of Texas! The proponents of NetZero etc need to produce some figures of their own and then explain how we can migrate to a NetZero solution. Travelling hopefully does not cut it.
