In fact the “turning the other cheek” is less about not fighting back, and more about raising your head back up after you’ve been struck the first time. When you get slapped or hit on one cheek your head will naturally do down and to the side. When you turn the other cheek, or offer the other cheek up, you raise your face back up and look the person right in the eye. It’s more of a challenge then anything else. Looking face to face and daring them to do it again. It’s a power move.
