We had 2 donors standing by that were not vaccinated and got all kinds of excuses that it wouldn't be feasible. They finally said if in the rare case she needed blood, they could stop the bleeding long enough for us to donate blood. I find it hard to believe this is not a bigger issue. Catholic Hospital, Catholic Doctor, and the last thing out of his mouth was "The Pope says it's OK!" Any experts out there want to weigh in on the introduction of mRNA blood into an unvaccinated bloodstream?
She did not need the transfusion, but . . .
In the same boat.
Yep I didn't need any blood products with the other ones so hopefully it will be the same
You can donate to yourself beforehand, not sure how far in advance it takes to regenerate, but that's an option. If you don't need it goes into the pool, we didn't have enough time to do that. The stress test showed she had a heart attack as some point and severe blockage. Cath showed some blockage and no heart attack evidence. No action needed, only by the power of prayer.
I saved my own blood before I gave birth. Didn't need it, but it's a smart thing to do.
Minimum two weeks in advance if surgery is elective. I gave patients that option when doing major jaw correction surgery.
This, but I asked and was told it wasn't possible. I know it is, but they are pushing hard to not allow it.
The only blood product I needed last time was RhoGam. I've been able to refuse it so far this time, and hope it stays the same.
Do you know if you have another child and they are R+, you could be risking them or other later babies? That happened to my brother, before they had rhogam. He was a "blue baby" because our mother had the rh antibodies in her blood.
Yes. This one will be our last.
These issues were my concern through my whole pregnancy. I debated and debated whether to get Rhogam or not. I couldn't find anything that indicated there'd been any issues, wasn't much info that I could find period, but didn't even run across any rumors of issues. I guess we'll find out in the years to come 🫤. "Blessed by His Blood" did say that with a rhogam shot you couldn't be a donor tho, but only out of an abundance of caution; the person I spoke w wasn't aware of any issues.
