Mixed feelings about this. Any tool can be used or abused. Who am I to tell a blind person they can’t be able to see from using this neural link tool?
Exactly. Or a paraplegic walk again.
That's how the floodgates get opened.
He has had huge issues with Monkey testing. The experiments are like WWII types of things. Glueing implants in place, glue leaking into brains. Wounds that won’t heal. Most of the monkeys are put down before they can complete their experiment.
Having owned a Tesla, the short cuts this guy takes are extreme. Build quality is shitty.
Now he has done the same rush jobs for these implants. You might be better off playing Russian Roulette with 5 out of 6 rounds in the chamber.
It's already old news. A very good friend of mine since university days came down with Parkinson's Disease, which rapidly began to dominate his motor control. He ultimately had two cerebral implants to modulate the tremors to his hands and arms. It didn't entirely stop the Parkinson's however; his speech was very difficult toward the end. He passed away recently---of pneumonia, but weakened by the Parkinson's.
I worked in the prosthetics business back in the 1970s doing optical engineering for intraocular lenses. That technology began shortly after World War II. It has been a boon to many people who suffered cataracts.
You can "mix" your feelings all you want, but that is only technology paranoia. Technology can do good and wonderful things for us. It can also be misused in hideous ways. Don't confuse the artist's equipment with the paintings painted.
