Yes! Music is just as controlled as hollywood. I find that you can find a ton of cult references in popular music but if you seek out some of their obscure indie bands- they are basically talking about this stuff in the open. Sometimes I wonder if some "one hit wonders" were musicians who didnt go along with initiation and therefore are left out of the game. Same with actors. Celebrity status is all tightly controlled.

Also, I have found that many video games have their symbolism as well. Id wager that almost all sold and broadcasted media is either created or heavily influenced by them.
