I personally believe that we will all get our chance to plead our case. There can be no forgiveness without repentance, but there can be no repentance without understanding of wrongdoing. In the end, Jesus judges the heart. And in the end it's between Him and each of us individually. In the end I think it's about owning our lives more than being shamed for being wrong. Christ says in Mathew 25 that our actions, particularly how we treat others will be a huge factor in determining the final judgement.
Remember, Thomas doubted yet Christ forgave him. Jesus isn't beyond reason. And with phrases like "let your yes be yes and your no be no" it tells me that we will have an understanding of everything and just like in the garden, coming full circle, we'll get to make our choice. On judgement day, regardless of if you think it's wrong or not, don't lie.
