same with Vermont, I really have no need for anything a supermarket sells except paper products and first aid stuff. Yeah, its a "blue state", but so what, people leave you alone, there are small farms to the left and right of me, and if the shtf, we are self sustainable. I would rather live here than some red state where the only place to shop is those enormous supermarkets (when I lived in Mo. a long time ago, I had never seen anything like it. ). NYC in the 50's still got most of their eggs and meats and grocery items from small farms. The agribusiness and factory farms are a horrible thing, all it does is keep large farmers in debt, bigger and bigger equipment, more and more loans to pay for it, government hand outs, growing corn to make ethanol and stuff pigs and sheep and cows with grains when they should be eating pasture and hay. Each state could be self sufficient if they stopped these big business contracts that have taken over farming. Surprisingly, the so called Blue State of Vermont also gets resistance from any government interference regarding small farms. But then, I am a person who would love to see us go back to that, each state encouraging small farms to produce what the people who live there need, and encourage trade with other states for things they cannot grow. I despise Agri-business
