There are plenty of reddit threads discussing it and giving proper criticism. Mods are primarily deleting threads that are just saying the same thing over and over.

People can agree just fine. It's to minimize having 100 threads all saying the same thing. There are threads dedicated to the discussion and in many place stickied so it's the top discussion on the subreddit.
And then it makes it easy to hide the newer comments that are "offensive' until they're deleted.
