10 They CAN NOT beat us.... as long as we remember to love one another. Jacob Collier and audience-as-choir covering "Somebody to Love" (probably the Mozart of our time. No exaggeration) (www.youtube.com) posted 1 year ago by Swervish 1 year ago by Swervish +10 / -0 9 comments share 9 comments share save hide report block hide replies
Ehhh, I think you need to study Mozart a bit more if you think that’s not an exaggeration.
maybe.
But maybe you need to study Collier a little bit more.
This is really good. :)
Have you ever watched Amadeus? If not you can find it online . Listen to his music and his story .
Yes. Ive seen it. Ive also hear Mozart performed live by everything from single piano to full orchestra.
Mozart was the cutting edge pop musician of his time.
I didn't say Collier was 'like' Mozart. I said he may be the Mozart of our time.
How so?, with all respect he wrote all of his own music already completed in his head . This guy is singing someone's already perfect music.
And what do you think of the piece posted? I notice you're more interested in explaining the already familiar Mozart than exploring the modern Collier.
After all, he's won 11 Grammys in since 2017, and is nominated for 2 more in 2023.
Give him a try.
Start here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Popdt3NYgU
or
Watch him partially redefine music theory; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLJVvjqMjbo ... (kind of like Mozart did)
I got 1/2 way through and shut it off. (to be honest with you )
That's perfectly OK, because the OP wasn't about Mozart or music theory anyway.
It was about loving one another.
Listen to Collier's cover in the original post (especially the second half ;) and try the love part instead of the argument part. See how that feels.
