Another good thing to prevent it and other forms of dementia is microdosing psilocybin (not enough to have any sort of psychedelic experience. You would generally need several 3+ grams to 'trip'. To microdose you take something .01 grams tops) along with other non-psychoactive mushroom mycelium (lions mane, chagga etc) along with niacin (which is apparently nicotine salt but people don't like to think of 'nicotine' as having any health benefit).
I know this sounds like new age hippie nonsense, just remember these substances existed long before being co-opted by the so called peace movement of some hippie morons.
Look up Paul Stamets, he was on Joe Rogan twice talking about this. There is a lot of research going on with it now, I believe it's been known for some time but largely suppressed.
Nicotine also dilates the blood vessels in the brain, helping you think and concentrate better, or even relax. Of course heavy cigarette smoking will also cause anxiety and withdrawals, but a good cigar or pipe always helps me think, and I’ve always had deep conversations with fellow cigar/pipe smokers.
Depends on the state. Some allow it some don't. I don't take enough to 'trip' and a small amount (the amount needed for a single trip) can last months when used for microdosing
Stamets has created a line of mushroom-based supplements as well, which to my eye look pretty legit. All US-grown mushroom material as well. No China crap.
Sold on his site, and also on Amazon.com. Stamet's Seven, etc.
P.S. Am pretty sure it's "chaga", no 2 gs. But whatevs.
P.P.S. Human use of mushrooms is, as you rightly point out, not hippie shit. Some say that mushrooms were key in our development as a species.
Nicotine helps prevent Alzheimer's. They did a study and smokers would not get it, while other non-smokers did get Alzheimer's.
Not saying go out and be a chain smoker since it wrecks your respiratory health, but a cigar or cigarette on occasion is probably ok.

Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, not a vasodilator. Like caffeine or cocaine.
Ha, I always heard it the other way around, but a quick google search says you’re right haha
I need to look into this. Nicotine is easier to get than psilocybin, which I am unsure of the legality.
