I'm in the general tri state area at the moment, and about every 30 minutes or so there's another MASSIVE boom. Not like a roadwork blasting or a coal mine blasting type of boom. It's also not like a sonic boom (like what keeps happening in Florida).
It's sounds kind of like a cross between thunder (but currently not storming) and a regular explosion. Also the ground/buildings around here are shaking a little bit when it happens, which is VERY unusual (basically never happens).
DUMB activity maybe? There are massive amounts of old mines in this general area, and Lord only knows what's inside of them at this point.
Just figured I'd throw this out there for anyone else in the general tristate area to comment on. Might be a habbening, who knows?
Not related to this, but related to tunnels/DUMBS...
Last week I volunteered to remove the 6' distancing floor stickers from my local lunch spot. I waited until after lunch crowd left, and then started using an electric scraper that was noisy. I apologized for the noise to an old guy (80+) who was the only customer. He said he spent a career in construction, so he was used to the noise. We chatted a bit and he said he spent 20 years working for a tunnel boring company. I replied that I had heard there are a lot more tunnels than people realize. He said yes there are, and almost nobody knows about them.
Then, the very next day, I start watching a car show (The Grand Tour, season 5) and they're in Norway driving/racing around in a massive underground tunnel network (not public) and come across an active military submarine base. It was kind of surreal to me as I had just talked to the old guy about tunnels the previous day.
