Working in IT and project management, I've been asked so many times about "smart" devices, especially thermostats, appliances and meters for business and home use, and every time I've said never do it. Just maintain it yourself and don't be lazy! Abdication of personal responsibility is not an excuse. We did all this before (and better) without it, no need to change course. Too much room for error when we do this. I get the strangest looks, but idc. Tech savvy doesn't mean you have to be a fanatic about it.
