Thread title inaccurate. According to actual story the coppers' position seems to be that they want to hire women and minorities but there is no restriction on anyone else applying. In reality I doubt you would get the job if you turned up for interview as a shouty blue-haired LGBT+, or maybe you would and then they would parade you around as a token but not let you do any policing. The actual police guys (as opposed to their Head of Diversity) do not like that shit at all.

UK police forces have had their hands slapped because of all the stupid things recently where people get arrested for not using pronouns and so on. There was that brutal video of a copper telling some bloke to rip a golliwog sticker off his camper van. Does not look good in the news during times of rising actual crime.
