Exactly a year ago my beautiful dog died after the vet put her on hideously overpriced Purina. She was my best girl ever. BASTARDS!
My dear, you need to run some research on what to feed. Don't let them tell you. Profit over care is what they do.
16 years old husky jumping over fence every week is what I got. I feed raw meat and bones. Oldest dog is Australian and 32. Raw food without vaccines.
I fed her raw: meat tripe, hearts etc. She was very fit and healthy till she got sick, really sick. I think one batch was contaminated. Tried all kinds of remedies to no avail. Took her to the vet as a last resort because I was worried I'd be accused of neglecting her if I didn't. You have no idea how hard I tried to get her back on track.
Oh, good, you know. If you have holistic vets, look for them. Most vets just poison, cut and burn. The only time now I will bring them in is neuter spay, or if they suffer too much, let them go.
I don't trust them.
I don't trust them either. Problem is if you don't take a sick dog to a vet you could be prosecuted for neglect. I had a great vet who was totally trustworthy, but she retired and sold her practice. This is why I won't get another dog: getting affordable safe raw food is difficult, can't go on holiday and leave her with a carer if you don't boost annually. Just like the flu shots for humans, these boosters impact immunity. Saw the deterioration in another dog I had and discontinued. Its all a scam.
Poisoned food kills the kidneys. But dogs know from thousands of years of eating carcasses how to smell it and avoid meat gone bad. Wonder if the meat you got had been vaccinated.
How old was she?
Not sure, she was a rescue. Probably around 10. Sweetest, most affectionate and intelligent girl ever, came to be known as our village cuddlehound loved by all. Absolute angel, wish I could post her photo.
To clarify, you have an Australian shepherd that is 32 yo?
No. I have a husky that is 16 and 4 foot fence every week.
32 yo Australian Shepherd is the longest living dog. Google longest living dog and you will find him.
32?! Wow
Mine is only 16. The oldest dog is name Bluey (Australian Shepherd). It will take my another decade and a half to get there.
