Buried deep in the article….
—“Now, this legislation (HB 1A, SB 2A) only eliminates one-way attorney fees in lawsuits involving property insurance policies.—“
This has more to do with half the state suing for a new roof whenever there is a Hurricane near the state than anything.
And this legit happens
Yep… and the insurance companies have to replace 15 year old roofs with zero storm damage rather than deal with lawyers willing to go to trial.
If you’re in an area where winds were above 40mph you can bet there will be teams working for roofing companies backed by lawyers our knocking on every door in the neighborhood. All of them claiming they can see the damage and if you’ll sign their form you’ll get a new roof.
People beg for relief from rising property insurance rates. Well… this is the #1 cause.
But it's Ron DeSantis' fault!
Ugh.
