I too am a vet. I knew I was just a cog in the machine, but I had no idea at the time. Pisses me off to think that we put our lives on the line, being told we were doing something good, when... well... it was all for them. And our comrades who didn't come home because of this greedy type of shit 😔.
The whole Iraq/Afghanistan fiasco is sickening to me, when you consider all the lives lost (and not just Americans) and debilitating injuries, all for nothing, with the end condition of the region FAR worse than before.
for real... Our soldiers, our men entered into Afghanistan, clearing from one side of the country to the next, all the while behind them taken land is being given to "mercenary groups" to hold while all the local crops get replaced by Opium. Much of which is smuggled right back into the USA to start the Opiate crisis we have today. Literally used our soldiers to destroy our country. I don't think they know who they fucked with though. These soldiers are people who joined to do right. When they learn in mass that they were really tools to destroy America, they will turn into tools to destroy those who did that to them.
