There was only ONE source saying there were "box cutters" that were used as weapons on "hijacked" airplanes.
That source was Ted Olson.
Ted Olson was the Solicitor General (member of DOJ in Bush admin). He said that his wife, Barbara Olson, called him from Flight 77 and told him there were hijackers with box cutters.
That is the ONLY source.
We KNOW that it was a lie.
There could have been only two types of phones that Barbara could have used to call her husband: air phones and and cell phones.
Ted said she called from her cell phone (remember, this was 2001, and the technology was not what it is today, and few people had them, but maybe she did). Then, he changed his story to air phone and then back to cell phone.
Problem #1: As of September 11, 2001, American Airlines did not have any Boeing 757's equipped with air phones. Could not have been an air phone.
Problem #2: In the Zacharia Mossoui trial, the FBI admitted into evidence all phone records from the plane. There were NO cell phones that were able to connect to any other phone on the ground. Could not have been a cell phone.
So, Ted Olson lied. There were no box cutters -- or at least, there is no evidence that there were any.
Also, none of the passenger manifests had any Arab names. But that is another story.
Reference to 9/11?
If so, that was a lie, too.

Came here to say most of that, but you said it better!
All TSA weapons collection is based on this chain of contradictory testimony.
I think the honor of the OP should probably revert to the Las Vegas shooter(s).
As I said, I wasn't and am not referring to 9/11... Cheers anon...
Well thanks. A second pass shows that the box cutter used was a 2002 art piece referencing 9/11, so that doesn't answer the puzzle you propose.
My second guess is https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/four-times-more-stabbed-than-rifles-any-kind/
Just type in box cutter assaults in your preferred search engine... Cheers...
If I was referencing 9/11, I would have said so in the title...
Nope, not referencing 9/11... Cheers anon...
