If you're referring to Kabbalism, the left hand pillar is the feminine pillar, which is the pillar of severity.
The left hand path also refers to Satanism, in a few different forms.
In statues of baphomet the left hand points downwards as a reference to black magic
The left hand is also pointing down because we are brought DOWN into the physical realm from the spiritual realm through the process of gestation and birth, which is a process that happens through the feminine energy. Thus, the left pillar is the feminine pillar.
I'm referring to what the Kabal also refers to.
This is represented in the Kabal but is in no way limited to it, nor did it originate there.
Satanism (as well as Luciferianism) has its own left and right hand paths, and so the distinction is more clarified.
Left is seen as 'sin-ister' because of it's corresponding calculating hemisphere of the brain (opposite side) that controls it.
