I've never been in that circumstance, but I imagine that is true.

Many should know that not releasing what is known is the bigger risk. Unless the plan is to disappear to some random island.

By saying you have something and not releasing it, you put a target on your back.

By releasing information about, say, wetworks at the vineyard, you instantly put up a shield against their attempts because it will be seen as proof.
