Easy to take care of and chicken eggs have the highest bioavailability for protein by weight. Nothing else compares in terms of protein efficiency (fish, beef, pork, etc).

That is why the chickens have been destroyed: high protein at cheap cost. Now the price of eggs have doubled and tripled.
