Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.

So the piece of shit neighbors just decided to they don't want their dog because he jumps and they have a new born. He's a year old pitbull mix, doesn't know any commands, neglected and abused. Third day and He's walking on a leash and relaxed with my 2 year old puppy. Such a good kid that never got enough love.
Hurt people really do hurt people... or dumb dogs. I don't know what to do, I guess I'm stuck with his dumbass. Mark Twain was right, "the more people I meet the more I like my dog"

If you are in the Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona or Utah area and want a dog DM me. He's a very sweet kid.
Way to step up! Good Job!!! Hope this dog you rescued goes on to bless you by scaring off of a burglar while you’re gone or something similar.
I’m happy to hear that you are fostering this dog. It probably just needs love. But I would not get down on your neighbors because they don’t want a dog around their child. I would choose my child over a dog any day of the week. And I’m a pet sitter for a living. Anyway, I don’t care what breed it is, if somebody does not feel safe with an animal in their home, they should get rid of it. And if what you say is true, how they’ve been treating that dog, it’s better for the dog anyway. It’s a win-win situation. Here you are… Giving the dog a new home, and a chance at a really good life. Kudos to you for that! Also, your neighbors are giving their child a good chance at life. Can you imagine growing up in a home, where a dog is not loved… That would be detrimental to a child, and how they would grow up and live in this world. Thanks for stepping up.
The pup is a gentle soul and the neighbors are high on meth. I'm more worried about her chain smoking cigarettes, drinking and doing drugs with her child in the womb. I hear what you're saying but that kid is already fucked, she's already had 4 kids taken by the state.
Wow, that sucks. Do you live in a blue city? Lol good luck with the dog.
Sorta? I'm in two blue states but away from the city so it's fairly red. Four corners, I'm an hour from AZ, NM, CO and UT
Such a sweet face with soulful eyes. Maybe he's meant to be in your family...God bless you for stepping up!
He's actually stopped guarding the food dish finally after two days. He doesn't know what to do with affection and abundant food. It's heart breaking.
Keep him. He's attached himself to you by the look of that photo. It'll be very upsetting for him to relocate again. He'll repay you 10 fold with his loyalty. Says the person with 6 dogs and probably the wrong person to have read your post lol. Bless you for taking him.
Rescued babies are the most grateful! He's in Heaven with your family!💙
I always say its the people who need training. Get angry when people talk about their "problem" dogs, want to tell them they are the problem. Looks like you have a new furkid who will be a loyal and loving friend.
I am a pet sitter, and you are 100% correct. Whenever the owners get out of the way, and they’re gone, the animals are much easier to manage, and they listen, and they obey. It’s amazing to see how different animals can be when their owners aren’t around.
I’m gonna be taking animal training courses, and get certified. I’m hoping I can train some animals, while I am pet sitting. My best friend is doing this now as well.
I think a lot of it is due to the fact that many owners are inexperienced and overprotective, the dogs pick up on the fearfulness and stress. When you get to know dog behaviour and how to train and respond to certain situations you become more relaxed and confident.
There was one couple who didn't let their dog near other dogs, said he didn't like being sniffed. Felt like asking if he'd left them a post-it note to that effect - sheer ignorance. Their overprotectiveness led to the poor dog becoming fearful and aggressive. It was off the lead once and ran up tp my dog: they started yelling and running after it. I told them to leave it alone to socialise. Few sniffs waggly tails. There - look, they are fine. Thought that would put an end to their fears but no, it was back on the leash and they dragged it off. Poor thing, tethered to a pair of idiots.
So true!

I've always received compliments on my dogs and how well trained they are. I'm incredible with obedience training for any mutt but I don't have a clue how to deal with people. I'm polite and not necessarily socially awkward but I prefer the company of a dog over a person any day of the week.
Dogs are generally more sensible and intelligent :)
I'm pretty sure they're all conservative
