IMHO Trump will not ACCEPT being House speaker; he's president of the United States. He's already shot down this goofy stunt, which would be seen by nearly all voters as a tricky end-run around getting elected. It would be spun as Trump being desperate and terrified of not being able to win an election, so he's resorting to underhanded trickery.

I agree. I also think there are far too many Rinos to get 218 votes for Trump. It would be an embarrassing loss and Trump avoids these types of losses at all costs.
