Kushner reminds me of Trumps version of The Lone Rangers Intel gather, Tonto. In each episode of The Lone Ranger, Tonto was sent into town to scout things out then come back and report on what he'd learned.

Reports that he's no longer working with Trump, coupled with messaging that he was never a Trump loyalist but only out for himself, enhance his ability to continue being one of Trumps most effective Tontos.
