It would have been very difficult for Trump to be Speaker of the house and run for Presidency in 2024. He had to win the Republican nomination which isn’t assured as it may have been as there seems to be a MSM shift towards DeSantis. Even Fox is pushing DeSantis, so Trump needs to get the Republican nomination first and then fight for the 2024 Presidential race. I don’t see how he could have done that as Speaker.
