In a nutshell trump controls the republicans as a whole but also has his own die hard group that can circumvent the larger part of the republican party he doesn't have full control of. They need trump, that's apparent. Everyone was too busy worrying about Damar Hamlin to even notice what the hell was going on in Congress. However there was more prayer being broadcast through the likes of many Disney owned broadcasting networks regarding the whole event, so take this week as a hopeful stepping stone in the right direction.
