I totally get military flights not being affected but I would imagine private flights would still fall under any FAA regulations like this.

Starting to see evidence of that. Over 400 mil air were over u.s. guy posted that in another thread. CAP cover to take out anyone trying to leave.

Also, does anyone believe the FAA doesn't have a redundant system for such a critical node?

I believe this morning's shut down only affected commercial flights, not the military and private flights.

Concur....was seeing prop/private jets taking off during the 'shut down'....commercial were the only ones I was seeing not taking off...
