Pipelines can be repaired quickly. Now, as to how it exploded.... That could be very interesting indeed.
The sky is orange and the explosions is huge.
I was part of a team that surveyed three pipeline explosions in Florida several years ago. The place looked like Hiroshima. Compressor station. It was up and running within 48 hours. Pipelines were in the 30" range. It's just a matter of turning off the gas and replacing the line. The station was a bigger job due to the complexity of the pipes, and it was still good to go quickly.
Funny story. One of my co-workers was smoking a cigarette when a guy came up and told him he had to put it out. He looked around and said, "Looks to me like the damage has already been done."
