A few million chickens were killed because of Avian Flu. That does not even make a dent in the total population of egg laying chickens in the US. The issue is more that the wholesalers are not willing to pay the farmers for eggs which cost more to produce due to the increased costs to raise chickens and produce eggs caused by the disastrous Xiden economic policies.
The farmers will cull their flocks and sell the birds for meat, so the price of chicken will drop as the price of eggs rises.
Remember the toilet paper shortage? I had a student in one of classes who had worked at a large store and she told us in class that the employees were told to keep the toilet paper in the warehouse section. But don't hens stop laying as much in the winter? Why are we surprised?
Because we were always able to buy eggs in the winter before.
I hear that one egg is about 9 USD in the US right now. True? Because that's pretty crazy.
There was an article that said a dozen eggs was $9 in New York City. I went to Costco this week and paid $8 for 2 dozen organic eggs. The price is $6 for non-organic. There's more hype and fear peddling than truth to this egg shortage. This is how companies sell doomsday supplies.
$3.49 a dozen yesterday at Kroger SE MI.
